Ambassador Howard Eugene Douglas is one of the founding members of Kinyeti Development and serves as its Managing Director. A native of Texas, educated in the United States and Europe, he holds academic degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and Columbia University in New York. He served as a commissioned officer with the United States Navy. From 1981 to 1985, he was United States Ambassador at Large and U. S. Coordinator for Refugee Affairs during the Administration of President Ronald Reagan. Mr. Douglas also served on the Policy Planning Staff of the U.S. Department of State under Secretary Alexander M. Haig with responsibility for economics, technology and the Far East. From 1986 to 1989, Ambassador Douglas was the C. B. Smith Centennial Professor in political economy at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs of University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Douglas has held business executive positions with the Memorex Corporation in California; Alpha Environmental, Inc.; Asia Pacific Wireless Inc.; GAC International, Inc and is presently a Director of Orbis Associates LLC (USA) and Orbis Orient Pte Ltd (Singapore)
He has served on the Executive Committee of the Presiding Bishop’s Fund for World Relief of the Episcopal Church; Her Majesty the Queen of Thailand’s Support Foundation; the Board of Directors of the International Foundation of the British Museum (Natural History) in London; the Presidential Commission on the Ukraine Famine; and the International Institute for Humanitarian Law in San Remo, Italy. He is a member of the Foreign Policy Association; the Council of American Ambassadors; the Association of Former Intelligence Officers, and the Association of Naval Intelligence Professionals. Leonard Henry Thatcher is a co-founder of Kinyeti Development and serves as a Director of the firm. A citizen of the United Kingdom, Mr. Thatcher has enjoyed an active career in London and Hong Kong as an investment banker and securities broker associated with the London Stock Exchange. He has special familiarity and contacts in South Sudan. Mr. Thatcher was principally responsible for negotiating the major land lease contract in South Sudan that forms the basis of several Kinyeti projects conducted in conjunction with its strategic partner, Nile Trading & Development, Inc. Christopher Weikert Douglas is Secretary of Kinyeti Development and a Director of the firm. A native of Washington DC, he was educated at St. Andrew’s School and St. Michael’s Academy. He received his B.A. from The University of the South, Sewanee in 2005, an M.A. from the Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce of the University of Kentucky in 2008 and an M.A. in German also in 2008. Mr. Douglas studied at the University of Bamberg, Germany (2003–2004), interned with Strategic Forecasting, Inc. of Austin, Texas (2007) and was attached to the American Consulate, Dusseldorf, Germany (2008).
